Abstract
Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) is a life-threatening con-dition involving hemorrhage originating in the pulmonary microvasculature. Here, we describe the development of recurrent DAH in a 43-year-old woman. The patient presented to an emergency room with aggravated dyspnea. The chest X-ray and computer tomography scan showed bilateral diffuse ground glass opacities in whole lung filed. Bronchoscopy and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) confirmed bilateral diffuse bleeding. Investigations for the common causes of DAH proved to be negative on two episodes. The patient was masseuse and acknowledged to inhale fumes from aroma candle. We proposed a cause-and-effect relationship, adding DAH to the known complications of inhalation of hydrocarbon in aroma candle.
